New Instructor Training Prerequisites
- Complete an AHA Instructor Candidate Application & then be accepted.
- Have a current AHA certification in the discipline you’d like to teach, and be proficient in all the skills and knowledge of that discipline. Disciplines include Heartsaver & BLS.
- Successfully complete the discipline-specific Instructor Essentials online course, and print the course completion certificate.
- Successfully complete the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course; (1) BLS CPR for Healthcare Provider Instructor Course, (2) Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Course or (3) Dual BLS/Heartsaver Instructor Certification Course.
- Be monitored while teaching one to two courses within the first six months after completing the Instructor Course.
